Adding a title to your page

- [Instructor] The title tag is one of the key tags that goes in the head of your document. Unlike the meta tags, which were a single tag, the title tag wraps around the text that will appear on the website. The text in the title tag displays in a number of different locations. First of all, it serves as the title of the browser window or the tab where the webpage is being displayed. It's also the link in search results for that page. The HTML title may also show up in a browser bookmark. Since your title will show up in so many different locations, it's important to choose a good title that will be helpful in all of these roles. Here are some helpful tips for writing good title tags for search engines and other uses. In general, keep your titles to 60 characters or less to avoid them being cut off in the browser display. Include the important keywords as well as the name of your website, company or brand. The best way to do this is to put the page keywords first followed by your brand name. Don't overuse or keyword stuff your title to try to improve your search results as this will likely penalize your page rankings. In all cases, you should always have a title tag on your page. Be sure you include helpful and handy content inside of it. Webpages called home or document, the default in VsCode, are not that helpful and it's easy to forget to include a meaningful title tag. Make the title tag creation a regular part of your new page creation workflow and you'll be less likely to forget about it.
