Learn the basics of HBase, the Hadoop database for big data analytics. Get an understanding of the HBase architecture and basic read/write commands.
- [Ben] Hadoop is a great platform for handling big data workloads. It does however, lack the ability to perform basic transactions that many applications need. As we'll learn, HBase, also known as the Hadoop database, will give you everything you need to build scalable applications on top of Hadoop. Hi, I'm Ben Sullins, and in this course we're going to take a look at how to use HBase for all of your data needs on top of Hadoop. We'll start by understanding what needs HBase is designed to meet and where it differs from a relational database platform.
From there, I'll show you how the HBase data model works and how all the pieces fit together in the architecture. After we set up a sandbox environment to work in, I'll walk you through creating tables and running queries against your new database. At the end of this course you'll have all the knowledge and skills necessary to get started using HBase for your application development, as well as your data science workflow. Let's dive in.
This course can help professionals further their career in big data analytics using HBase and the Hadoop framework. Learn to describe HBase in the context of the NoSQL landscape, build simple architecture models, and explore basic HBase commands. Instructor Ben Sullins shows how all the concepts fit together, resulting in the kind of distributed big data storage you need for scalable, enterprise-level applications.
