- [Instructor] I have my exercise file open already. In this video, I want to talk about unrolling. If you're using NERP surfaces, particularly curving surfaces to build real life objects, unrolling is a common part of that process. It allows you to take that curving surface and lay it flat, so that you can build panels or frames or perhaps it's a tensile structure, perhaps it's a nomadic structure. And if I bake this geometry into Rhino, I have this unrolling command, unroll surf, which will unroll it flat. And this command is powerful because it can handle unfolding flat surfaces, like this triangle, but it also can also unroll curving surfaces, like this hyperbolic surface. So that's great if you're doing one surface or two surfaces, but if you're doing many, many, many folded or twisted surfaces at the same time, in a parametric workflow, you really need this unrolling functionality built in to grasshopper, and…
