- [Instructor] As Grasshopper has been developed, data trees, the way data is organized in Grasshopper, has changed. As a result, older Grasshopper files often have issues related to data tree manipulation. In this video, we'll walk through the process of fixing a common data tree issue with older scripts. If you open the exercise file, you should see no load errors and no red or orange components. If you zoom in on the right side however, you can see data tree mapping components that are not working properly indicated by orange outputs showing no data. This is a common issue. As Grasshopper was developed, the internal data tree logic changed, breaking older scripts. The key is to determine the end goal for the data tree and then then work left to right to resolve the issues. First, let's visually isolate the area we are working on.
