…The math tools in Grasshopper are extremely powerful.…Let's take a look at using mathematical functions, along with…the evaluate component located under Maths > Script in the Component panel.…The evaluate component by default has inputs for…an expression, an x variable and a y variable.…In this video, we'll work with a very simple formula to generate…a parabolic curve.…Now, the expression that makes a parabola is y equals x squared,…so that's the expression that will live in our expression input and…we'll take in some inputs for x values, but we won't be taking in any y values.…Those will be the values coming out here.…So, since Evaluate is a variable parameter component, I can actually zoom in and…delete this y input here.…
So, I'm just zooming in till I see these little plus minus icons, and…clicking minus to get rid of y.…Now I can plugin my expression into the Evaluate component's expression input.…And I have a few different choices for how I do this.…I can right-click and just type in x times x,…that's the same as saying x squared and I can hit commit changes.…
