This is the first of a pair of videos in which we'll examine Boolean operations. In this video the focus will be on what happens when you do a Boolean operation and what causes them to fail, both in Rhino and Grasshopper. In the second video we'll focus more on strategies to replace Boolean operations First off, what actually is going on when you do a Boolean operation? If I bake these objects into Rhino, I'll turn off Grasshopper for a second, I do a Boolean union here. What I'm doing is I'm taking these two objects and I'm creating one single polysurface that describes the outside of the volume to the two objects but in reality, what the Boolean operation is doing is it's first finding the intersection between these two objects then it's splitting all the surfaces and then it's dumping the surfaces that are identified to be within the volume and if we did a different Boolean operation, let's say a Boolean difference, it would just get rid of a different subset of the resulting…
