Fabrication: Ivy for fabrication

- [Instructor] Welcome, I have my exercise file open already. In this video we're focused on Ivy. In the last two videos, we look at how Ivy let's you take a mesh object, convert it into a mesh graph, and then unfold the graph and then convert that graph back into an unfolded mesh object. In this video, we're going to look at the tools that Ivy adds that let's you take these unfolded parts and turn them into patterns that can be fabricated. So if we look at the Ivy tool set, here under fabrication, we can add flaps. These are the flaps if we were making these parts out of paper or out of metal that would let us reattach flaps together when we're folding it back up. So let's add our simple flap component. In here, this is the graph that's being unfolded. So we created the mesh, we converted the mesh into a graph, and then we're taking that graph and using it to unfold these mesh parts.
