Get started in digital publishing. Learn the basics of ebook creation and discover how to choose the right format and tools for any project.
- [Anne-Marie] Hi. I'm Anne-Marie Concepcion and welcome to my course on the Fundamentals of eBooks. I'm going to gently introduce you to the exciting, challenging and rapidly evolving world of creating digital books, or eBooks. In all the formats that your potential readers are expecting, you can look forward to a lot of hard one insider tips and techniques that I've picked up from over five years of creating eBooks for clients and teaching other designers in this new field.
And since this is a beginning, overview type course, I'll start out by showing you the different kinds of eBooks that are out there, and help you find them, download them and read them on your device or your computer. Then each successive chapter will help you wrap your head around the five main different ebook formats that are being designed, sold and read today. These are re-flowable ePubs, fixed layout ePubs, Kindle eBooks, PDF eBooks and multi-touch eBooks created with iBooks Author.
You'll learn all the different ways that you can make eBooks to help you choose the best tool for a given project, including professional page layout software, free apps that focus solely on eBook design and trustworthy online services that can do the work for you. I'm very excited to be the one to introduce you to eBooks, how to make them and how to distribute and sell them. Ready, set, let's go.
