Typography choices

- Think about typography and the many emotions it can convey in print, film, mobile devices, and other products. If typography is used well, it can be a catalyst that persuades the consumer to pick up the product and buy it. Typography for packaging must perform many tasks at point of sale. It needs to clearly communicate the information about the product as well as capture emotion and indicate quality. It should be able to clearly help identify what the product is, what it does, who makes it, and how it works, the ingredients and safety information all within a legible hierarchy of info. Your typeface choice will also need to be applied to other products in the packaging line as this adds to the effective communication and provides consistency across the family of products. Once the copy has been agreed upon the biggest task is figuring out how the typographic elements complement and work in harmony with the package color, shape, size, and overall design.
