- When beginning your design process and engaging with your client, examine the packaging they currently have, and ask if they're looking for something more unique. Once you know exactly what the client's looking for, you can decide if you should proceed with stock packaging, or explore more custom design options. Stock packaging is a ready-made solution. These packages are made by many different manufacturers worldwide and offer a variety of standard sizes, shapes, and colors. Stock packaging is an efficient means of getting your product to market, especially if speed and cost are the main concerns. This is a good option if you want to test the market to gather data, or if you need a short-run production for small volume. Stock packaging lets you avoid tooling or dyes needed for custom packages, and requires less capital investment up-front, something that's extra helpful if your client is just starting out.
