- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Nigel French. Welcome to Type Tips. This week, I have a quick tip about the spacing of items in a bullet or number list. A recent improvement in design makes this much easier to control. Here's the issue. In this example, my text is set on 16-point leading, and I would like a half line space or eight points between each paragraph but only four points between the items in the list itself. If I come and edit the bullet style and come to indents and spacing and change the space before to four points, then we see that the first item in the list is now too close to the text that precedes it. Doing things the old way, I would have to make a variant of the bullet style to apply to the first item in the list, but now, with a feature called space between paragraphs using the same style, I can accomplish this with a single style.
