Solving conflicts with Helvetica
- [Narrator] If there's one font conflict that has affected more Mac users than any other, it's the conflict between Apple's version of Helvetica and versions of that font by Adobe and Linotype. So, let's look at the macOS font conflict with Helvetica. Whether you need to worry about it and how to solve it. Back when Apple created its versions of the Helvetica fonts it gave them the exact same internal names as the postscript type one versions of these fonts from Adobe and Linotype. This created a conflict that continued for several versions of macOS. Making things worse, Apple used Helvetica a lot in it's applications so it was among the protected fonts that would be automatically replaced, if you try to disable it. Fortunately the problem is a little bit easier to deal with starting in OS 10.9 Mavericks and 10 10 Yosemite. So lets take a look at how to resolve the Helvetica conflict in macOS 10.
