- Leaving a position is a difficult decision, and it's a difficult conversation to have with your boss. It's really important that you don't burn bridges when quitting. I'm going to share with you some true examples from a survey of HR managers about some of the worst resignations that they've received. An employee left a sticky note to explain why he was quitting, giving new meaning to the term thinking small. Another very angry employee tossed a brick with I quit taped to it through a window. One employee told coworkers that it was his last day before letting his boss or the HR manager know, making for a very awkward exit. Another professional had his wife call the office to say he was quitting. One worker baked a cake with the resignation letter on top. Resignations are not meant to be an opportunity to be creative.
