Removing unnecessary fonts
- [Instructor] One of the key steps to organizing your font folders is to remove any fonts that you don't need. You don't have to actually delete the font files. You just have to move them to a location where they won't be activated. This saves system resources and makes your applications run faster since those extra fonts won't be loaded into memory. And before you start removing fonts, you should be sure that your computer is fully backed up, so you don't end up creating a situation where you can't get back to the functionality that you currently have. You can also back up your font folders by holding down the Option key as you drag the folders to your desktop or another location. I'll start with my System Library Fonts folder. And to get at that, I'll choose the Go menu, choose Computer, Macintosh HD, System, Library, Fonts. And I'll hold down the Option key and drag this folder to my desktop to make a copy of it.
