- Before I start with the project-specific operational best practices, I want to level set us on the distinctions between different projects, since they can range from a simple edit to an existing brochure, to a ground-up creative mobile app. They should always be taken into account when designing or refining project-specific processes. The three distinctions I'm referring to here are project type, project tier, and project complexity. First up, we have project type, which defines what the actual deliverable is, such as a poster, packaging, a tablet application, video. Well, you get the idea. Next, we have project tier. This refers to the amount of creative required for the project. Typically, groups break down their projects into three tier levels. Tier one jobs are projects that need ground-up creative not using or based on previously developed creative assets.
