Printing your designs for each type of mockup
- Finding the right substrate for your mockup depends not only on what you have access to, but also the type of product that you're mocking up. For instance, on a spice jar, I'm going to use a regular coat of paper, but for the sauce packet, I'm going to use a vinyl sticker paper. And for the small boxes, I'm going to use a heavyweight card stock, uncoated for both of these. I suggest going to your local art store and looking at various paper samples that can be used in your printer. Inkjet printers can accept a variety of substrates. Far more variety than you can use in a laser jet or color Xerox printer. And I tend to like the results of an inkjet printer when making mockups. And that's what I've used for each of these. If this is your first time making 3D mockups, I suggest using whatever you have handy at home as a start. Mostly because all these nice papers aren't cheap. And since you're going to be making plenty of mistakes, you might as well make them using plain paper or plain…
