- Making sure that your photos look good and that they function properly in print and on the web, that isn't always under your complete control. But it should always be your business to stack the odds in your favor. And here's a scattering of advice pertaining to this. We're going to start with your computer monitor. Now, does your monitor show you colors that are consistent with what you see on other people's monitors and compared with what you're seeing from printouts from high-quality, highly-calibrated inkjet printers? If not, you might need to calibrate your monitor because a poorly-calibrated monitor, that's nothing but trouble, nothing but trouble for any artist of this digital age, photographers included. Now, most monitors do come with calibration instructions, though I might suggest that you use a third-party device and software specifically designed for accurate calibration, if you need to, that is.
