- [Instructor] There are a lot of common features that you will see in the eBooks you test. Book design is pretty much the same today as it was a few decades ago, before the eBook revolution. So you're guaranteed to see the same kind of design elements every day. However, there are some limitations to what eBooks can do, and it's important to understand those limitations before you start logging every difference between the eBook and the print book as a design error. What I mean by this is that not everything you can do in InDesign for the print book design can be replicated in HTML or handled by eBook software. Additionally, while HTML, CSS, or EPUB specifications may say that it supports some design feature or function, every reader system will have its own level of support and will make accommodations for layout engine limitations, overrides to provide a more consistent experience across books, overrides that follow the reader's preferences, and more.
