Looking around: Why it works

- Visiting Boston recently and came across this sign in Copley Place, and I like it. Several reasons, all of which are applicable to our work. First is that it's alone in this big, open space, and you just can't miss it. I practically bumped into it. This is the best way to be seen. You know, be the only thing there. There's nothing else to look at. Another benefit of that is when you have the stage like this, you don't have to shout. You can just speak in your normal voice. It takes a lot of pressure off the design. Second thing I like is the clarity of the poster. If you can picture with no words, you can see two fields, a photo at the top and a white square at the bottom, one clean edge between them, no borders, no embellishments, nothing. The effect of that is to put all eyes on the material, on those models, on the copy. There's nothing distracting you. Third is that I like that it's all black and white.
