Free Transform scales proportionally

Free Transform scales proportionally: Photoshop CC 2019 New Features

In the old days, if you were to scale a selection or layer using Edit > Free Transform, you had to press and hold the Shift key to scale proportionally. This goes for the File > Place Embedded and Place Linked commands as well. Now these commands scale proportionally by default, which is usually what you want, especially when scaling type. To scale non-proportionally, press and hold Shift, at which point the resulting aspect ratio becomes to new definition of “proportionally.”
