- [Instructor] When it comes to fonts in ebooks and other digital documents, there are both technical and legal issues to deal with that go beyond what you might be used to for print documents. By paying attention to these details you can be sure that your digital documents will look great and they won't violate your font licenses. So let's look at some of the issues for fonts and digital documents. Let's start with EPUB ebooks. The EPUB specification does allow for embedding of fonts although you may have to take special care to make sure that fonts get embedded properly in your ebooks, that you stay in compliance with your font licenses, and that the fonts can be displayed on various ebook reading platforms and devices. When you embed fonts in an EPUB, the fonts themselves are included in the compressed package, so technically someone could unzip the EPUB and extract the font files, which obviously the font foundry would frown on since that would mean you are, in essence…
