Finding free fonts
- Probably the most common place to get fonts today is the web. There are countless websites offering instant access to free and commercial fonts, so you might ask, "If there are so many free fonts out there "why would you ever wanna to pay for a font?" Well, as the old saying goes, sometimes you get what you pay for, but depending on your needs a free font might do just fine. So, let's take a look at some sources of free fonts as well as some issues to consider. Here in my browser I have a bunch of tabs open to sources of free fonts, and the first one we'll look at is dafont.com. You can browse fonts here by all different kinds of themes, or you can look at them alphabetically, or you can search for something specific. I'll just look for some grunge fonts. And here they are. You can also browse newly uploaded fonts or the most popular fonts, and there's a pretty cool preview feature where you can type in some text right here and see that text rendered in all the different fonts.
