- I have a hobby that is so intense…that it requires 100% of my focus and concentration…and almost puts me in this Zen state.…I didn't realize that until I'd done it awhile,…and I got thinking it would be interesting…to come up with a logo type that portrays that mode.…I mean where the world just sort of goes away,…and you're just in this place.…
So, what type would do that?…And I'd like to show you a few that I explored,…and what I was looking at.…I began with Avant Garde Gothic Pro Extra Light.…I chose this because the shapes…are so simple and familiar,…just straight lines and perfect circles.…It's mostly air, but those lines create…a little bit of a demand.…So my first step was to lighten it,…which you can do, of course, with any typeface,…and added space between the characters,…again to try and kind of lighten the setting…and lessen its demand.…
Wasn't quite working for me.…My next attempt was Fira Sans.…Fira is a more condensed typeface.…And it was interesting in looking at this…that the condensing, the pressure from the right and left…
