- [Instructor] Keeping only the fonts that you need active on your system, is a good habit to have. That way your computer will have more memory available, your applications can launch faster, and you won't have to scroll up and down font menus that seem to go on forever. So, let's see how to enable and disable fonts, in Font Book. Enabling fonts makes them available for you to use in your applications. And, when you install fonts in Font Book, they're automatically activated. This isn't a preference or a setting that you can change. It's just the way that Font Book works. It assumes that if you're installing a font, you wanna use that font right away. The fonts that are active in Font Book are shown with their names in black. So, I can see that all the fonts in the free fonts collection are active. If I wanna turn some of them off, there are a number of ways to do this.
