Determining data viz styles

- [Narrator] Building a visual language for a campaign is similar to developing a brand for a company with one notable exception, it is essential to establish a style for how to visualize data. This is a step that is rarely considered with branding. When choosing a data viz style for the NEA, for example, we decided to keep all charts and graphs clean and simple. We didn't dress them up with any patterns or rely on icons to replace labels, but we also chose to stylize the graphs enough to ensure they fit with the illustration style. This allows the data to stand alone and speak with authority. If we were mainly visualizing data for younger generations, then we might have chosen to dress the data up slightly by adding pattern fills to the graphs or unique labeling as shown in this example.
