Color considerations
- Color is one of the most critical components of package design. As humans, we're programmed to see color first, shape second, photography third, and finally words. We've all experienced this hierarchy in our own daily shopping rituals. When I need to go shopping for mustard, one color and brand immediately comes to mind. The color yellow with a touch of red and a distinct bottle shape, ah French's mustard. Okay, now I'm thirsty. So how about this one. A red colored can with a white stripe and cursive white type. Venture to take a guess? You got it, Coca-Cola. As you can see, color's a very powerful too. Be sure to take some time to actually consider the brand colors you're working with and how they'll translate to packaging. The right color combination will strike a chord with the consumer and engage them on an emotional level. This will help make your brand name and packaging, easy to remember.
