Avoiding problems with Mac system fonts
- [Instructor] The contents of the Mac system fonts folder are critical to the health and well-being of your computer. So, one of the best ways to avoid font trouble on a Mac is to avoid altering the system fonts folder. And in recent versions of MacOS, you really have to go out of your way to meddle with the system fonts. Let's take a quick look at this important folder and its contents. To get to the system fonts folder, I'll start here in the Finder. And in the Go menu, I'll choose Computer. And then at the top level directory, I'll open Macintosh HD, System, Library, and then scroll down and find Fonts, and open that. Now, there are fonts in here that MacOS and Apple applications use for the text in menus, pallets, dialogue boxes, help files and so on. So MacOS really doesn't want you messing around in here. And in fact, if you're running a recent version of MacOS, there's a feature called System Integrity Protection that will prevent you from making any changes here. For example,…
