Adding photographic textures to layouts and illustrations
- You know, there's this one thing about digital photos that is so great. I mean it's so great, that it's sometimes a problem. And it's this. Digital photos can just be so darn perfect. They can be so crisp, and so clear, and so tidy, and clean. Sometimes, that is just not what we're aiming for, right? Okay, so to solve this perfection issue, we can do some of the things that I talked about in the last video. We can shoot with an alternative lens, a lens that just kind of messes things up, or we could go ahead and allow some blur or shakiness into our photos. That might do the trick too. Another specific thing that I often do to add intentional, analog style notes of distress, or aging, or just like a downtown urbanity look to an image is to apply some visual texture to my photo. You know what I mean by visual textures, right? We saw a ton of examples in the final video of chapter two.
