Learn how Google+ is similar and different compared to other social networks
- [Voiceover] If you're thinking about using Google+ or have just started using Google+, one of the questions that you may have is what's the difference between Google+ and Facebook and Twitter and all of the other social networks? There's actually quite a few. First of all, Google+ is linked with all of the other Google services. That includes YouTube, Google Search, and Google Places. As a business owner, when you start using Google+, you're setting up your brand on multiple different services, which just increases your visibility. Google+ also does a great job of catering to businesses.
Google+ users are interested in learning. Facebook users tend to be more interested in their close-knit social networks. There's a lot of private posting going on, private photos being uploaded. Google+ users are interested in learning and exploring new things. As a business owner, that is a perfect opportunity because you already have a user base that's interested in learning about new products and services. So, why not get the message out to those people right on Google+? There's more public post interaction on Google+ than on Facebook. Google+ users are posting publicly all over the place and as a business, you're going to be posting publicly.
So, it's really beneficial to have a social network where the users are already interested and used to interacting with public posts. The same type of posts that you're going to be publishing as a business. Google+ allows for a great deal of creativity. Rich media appears beautifully on Google+. Photos and videos just look amazing. On Twitter, for instance, you're limited to how much you can type in one post, which, when you're trying to explain a product or service, that can be kind of limiting. On Google+, you have free rein. You can post videos, you can post photos, write as much text as you want, and you can even format that text.
You can link to multiple websites. You could even have your entire online presence on Google+ because it allows for you to post so much content. Whereas on a social network like Twitter, for example, you're really limited. Lastly, Google+ directly affects SEO. If you're going to use Google+ for one reason as a business, this should be it. Facebook and Twitter might have slight affects on SEO when it comes to trending topics and that sort of stuff, but Google+ and Google Search are owned by the same company. When you post a status update to Google+, it's indexed in Google Search results.
When you verify your business, you're going to show up in Google Search results as an official Google Place with all of your contact information. So, just from an SEO perspective, Google+ is almost a necessity these days for businesses that are looking to increase their online presence.
