Refer to a cell a specified distance from another cell
- [Instructor] When you work with data in a worksheet, you will often need to create scenarios to examine multiple possible outcomes. In this movie, I will show you how to use the offset function to refer to cells a given distance away from a reference cell. This workbook contains two sets of data. The first is a set of revenue values based on different scenarios. As you can see from column J, I have my scenario codes going for one, which is Poor, meaning lower revenue and higher cost of goods sold. To Excellent, which is number five. Or Custom, which allows you to put in your own values. That's scenario number six. What I'd like to do with this worksheet is to be able to enter in a scenario number or a scenario code in cells H3 for Revenue and H6 for Cost of Goods Sold, and see the results in terms of operating income. And you can see those results here, in row five. I currently don't have any revenue, but I am looking at Cost of Goods Sold. So let's examine the formula in cell C4 to…
