Forecast values using linear regression

- [Narrator] When you have a set of sample data with an independent variable, such as the square footage of a house and a dependent value, such as the price of the house, you can determine if there is a linear relationship between those two variables. In this movie I will show you how to make that calculation using the LINEST function. I have two columns of data, the first in column A deals with the price of a number of houses. And in column B I have the square footage of those houses. And what I want to do is determine the linear relationship between those values. If makes sense if the size of a house is related to its value, although will of course be other considerations, such as the location of the house and its condition, but in general square footage is a pretty good indicator of final price. If I want to have Google Sheets calculate the linear relationship between square footage and price, I can use the LINEST function, L-I-N-E-S-T. So in cell E2, I'll type in equal sign and…
