Find the sum and average of numbers
- [Instructor] Two of the most common things you'll do in Google Sheets are find the sum and average of sets of values. In this movie, I will show you how to do just that. This workbook contains a single worksheet, and on it I have yearly revenue and special revenue in two separate columns. I want to find the total or sum of the values in column B for yearly revenue and then find the average of my special revenue values. To find the sum, I will work in cell B5, so I've clicked that. Type an equal sign. And the function you use to find the sum is sum, S-U-M, followed by a left parentheses, and then all you need to do is select the values that you want to add. So I will select cells B2 through B4, type a right parentheses and enter, and I get my total of $4,016,000. To find the average, I will use the average function. So I'll click in cell D5, type an equal sign, and the function is average. Select cells D2 through D4, type a right parentheses and enter, and I see that the average is…
