Discover the day of the week
- [Instructor] Most business records include the date of a transaction, but not the day of the week. If you want to know whether an event occurred on a Monday, Wednesday, or other day of the week, you can use the weekday function to find out. I'll demonstrate how to use the weekday function in this movie. In this workbook, I have a worksheet that has a series of dates from cells A2 through A8. What I'd like to do is to find the weekday for each of those dates. I'll start by clicking in cell B2 and type an equal sign to start my formula, and the function I'll use is, unsurprisingly, weekday. So I'll type that, then a left parenthesis; and in the formula help, I see that weekday needs two arguments. The first is the date; that's no problem. That's in cell A2 and the other cells in column A. And the second is the type, which if I look down, says that it's a number indicating which numbering system to use. By default, it starts counting with Sunday as one. Okay, we'll start with that…
