- Google Photos is a cloud-based service that lets you back up and preserve your digital photo and video memories. Now, if you choose, you could use this for all of your photos that you take with all of your different cameras. Or you might decide to only use it for a certain subset of images, such as the ones you take with your smartphone. You work with the service via an app on your mobile device or through a web browser and an image uploader utility on your computer. Let's take a quick look at how to set up Google Photos on a mobile device. So, if you have an Android phone, the app is already going to be pre-installed, and you'll find it with the rest of the Google applications. If you're on an iOS phone, it's a free app that you can download from the app store. Now, if you've already signed into your Google id on your phone, when you get started with the app, it'll recognize that. So you can see right up here, it sees my Google id.
