In this video, staff author Jess Stratton shows you how to make sure headings are in place, and how to create a table of contents, including updating incorrect information.
- [Instructor] Let's create a table of contents…for our document.…I have the proper headings in place.…Here's the title.…Here's heading one,…and then my subheadings have a proper lower heading…than the one above it.…I've gone through my entire document.…Let's take a look at the document outline.…We do that by clicking View from the top menu…and choosing Show document outline.…Now, if this document is just for you,…you might not need a table of contents.…The document outline works just the same way,…title, heading, subheading,…and you can click on them…right to that area in the document.…
I'll close out of this.…If you don't know about…this functionality in Google Docs, however,…you might need something more.…So we can put a table of contents…right at the top of the document…so it will be the first thing that people see…when they open the document.…I'll place the cursor right at the beginning,…and I'll click Insert from the top menu.…And all the way down at the bottom,…I'll choose Table of contents.…I can decide whether I want one…
