- [Instructor] Now that we've covered some of the various infrastructure and platform services within the Google cloud platform including a demo on how to create your own virtual machine, let's learn some best practices for how you should go about securing these services within the platform. As you architect out your organization within the platform, it's best practice to build out your environment using a defense in depth approach. Defense in depth is an information assurance strategy in which series of defense mechanisms and controls are layered throughout the network in order to protect your data and information. This includes securing your services using identity and access management policies for example, you can secure your network using firewalls, as well as securing your applications using load balancers or encryption.
