Choosing the right data encryption option

- [Narrator] The Google Cloud Platform provides encryption services that protect your data while it is in various states, such as in transit or at rest. Understanding how your data can be protected is important to prevent harm such as an authorized disclosure to unauthorized individuals when being stored in a public cloud. Encryption is defined as a process in which information, called plaintext, is converted into an alternative and unrecognizable form, known as ciphertext, in such a way that only authorized parties can decipher and access the original information. Here is an example using the encryption algorithm called Enigma that we can convert a simple sentence, such as the beautiful pink butterfly floats down the lazy river, into a ciphertext that is not easily understandable to the human eye. This conversion process and different encryption algorithms are super complex and therefore outside the scope of this course.…
