Join Lynn Langit for an in-depth discussion in this video Use Cloud Launcher to set up an Eclipse Che IDE, part of Google Cloud Platform Essential Training (2017).
- [Narrator] The next service we're going to…look at in GCP is the Cloud Launcher.…This is basically automation around…the launching of customized VMs.…So, they're VMs with applications on Compute Engine.…So, it's databases and other types of components…that are pre-configured and pre-optimized by those vendors.…Sometimes there's a licensing fee for the software…and sometimes it's open source.…So, we're going to look at an example of spinning up a VM…with a development environment on it called Eclipse Che.…So, we're back in our VM environment, we have two VMs.…
So, we're going to click up here on the home menu,…and we're going to go to the Cloud Launcher.…And inside the Cloud Launcher, we're going to scroll down…and find developer tools.…And under developer tools, we're going to click on Eclipse Che.…And you notice launch on Compute Engine,…and there's an estimated cost, so what this is…is an open source, browser-based IDE…that allows for multi-language development.…I personally use it as an alternative…for regular Eclipse for Java.…
