When it comes time to edit together your video footage, you will need to think about how you will use your edit drive. One thing you need to do is to format the drive. Why should it be formatted? In this video, author Richard Harrington discusses the importance of formatting a drive you will be editing from.
- Another thing to consider when you're getting…your edit drive ready is how you format it,…and there's a couple of different options here.…First up, you're going to need to think about…what you're working on.…For example, are you Mac, PC, or both?…This can cause all sorts of interesting workflow issues.…You see, you can format a drive for PC…and mount it on a Mac, but there are often limitations…in the file sizes that are recognized,…and with GoPro, you can easily create…video files that are bigger than that,…so you're gonna get a situation where…you might not have read write access.…
On the other hand, if you format as a Macintosh drive,…well in that case, you're going to need…to install a solution like MacDrive on your PC…so you can easily move between.…Now, for most of you, you're probably single platform.…Working on a laptop, a desktop system that match,…or maybe a tablet, and that's fine.…You're gonna have far fewer issues.…What's just important is that you check…the formatting of your drive when you connect it.…
