- Before we start to work with GoPro Studio there is a handful of preferences I'd like you to tweak. This will ensure that your projects are backed up correctly, and that media is handled in the desired way. Once you've downloaded GoPro Studio, simply launch it. You may find Preferences under the GoPro Studio menu on a Mac, or the Edit menu on a PC. The shortcut should be Command, or Control + Comma, which will open up the Preferences dialog. Here, we have a few options that are important. First up, use time of day for timecode. Timecode is a useful addition to clips. Video editors use timecode to reference specific frames within a shot. This allows people when logging to be very specific and actually reference unique frames based upon a specific point in time. On high-end professional cameras, this can often be set using a menu, but the GoPro has the ability to use time of day.
