In this video, staff author Jess Stratton shows users how to do basic searches in Gmail, and refine a search. She also covers how to search every aspect including spam and trash.
- [Instructor] Gmail doesn't ever want you…to delete your mail, because it's so easy…to find your messages should you ever need them.…That's why they always want you to archive…your mail instead, because remember,…when you archive your mail it just sits there…in the all mail label just waiting to be searched.…Let's the cursor in the search bar.…In its most simplest form, put a word or a phrase in…and see what you get.…Hit the enter key.…And you'll get your search results.…If you click inside an email,…the search words are highlighted in yellow.…You can click the back arrow at the top of the email…to go back to the search results.…
I can also see where this email is located…in case I need it later.…For example, this one's in the inbox…and this one is most likely in all mail.…There's some more things that I can do.…For example, in this search box…all the way on the right hand side,…I can click the down arrow to show search options.…Here's where I can really fine tune a search.…I can search on mail from a particular person…
