- [Instructor] This is an intermediate course. There are a few things you'll need to know beforehand to be successful. If you're a graphic designer, you probably already have a working knowledge of typography. There's no shame if you don't, but you should remedy that ASAP by checking out Foundations of Typography with Ina Saltz and reading a few of the recommended books in the list included with this course. You'll need to know how to use Glyphs App to draw, space, and generate your font. If you're unfamiliar with that program, take the time to watch my course, Glyphs App Essential Training. It'll give you more than enough information to operate in this course. Beyond those prerequisites, you'll be helped immeasurably by a critical eye and a strong dose of patience. Learning to see the details of typographic form is certainly a key to success in type design, but having the stamina to edit, observe, and edit again is what separates true type designers from those that would be.
