- [Instructor] So we're at the end of the course, but it's just the beginning of your work with italics. You've got plenty more study and experimentation to do. In this course we built a rudimentary italic to tease apart the process. And in doing so, we've used a lot of recycling, literally copying parts from one letter to another. That's fine in exercises, but in your own work, and in the work that you do for others, I strongly encourage you to keep or introduce variety into your designs. Small changes in the angles or shapes or serifs from one glif to another, for instance, will keep your typefaces from becoming static or monotonous. The more you look at typefaces, the more you're going to see. Books and libraries are your friends. And not just your local library, if you travel, be sure to find out what typographic treasures are held at the libraries at your destination.
