Join James Williamson for an in-depth discussion in this video Adding new glyphs, part of Creating Icon Fonts for the Web.
…Once your font is set up and it's metrics are…set, it's time to start adding the glyphs that you need.…Now you can either add all of the glyphs at once, and…then come back in and import or add all of your artwork.…Or you can simply add a glyph at a time as you're working on the fonts.…It's really up to you.…I do have to admit that the process of…adding a lot of glyphs at once is fairly tedious.…So, I actually like creating templates that I can start…from that contain a really wide range of existing glyphs.…
And I can just sort of use the ones I need and get rid of the ones that I don't.…At the end of the course, I'll show you a template I…created for you, you can sort of take and use from here.…But for right now, let's just sort of examine the process…of what it takes to add glyphs inside of the application.…Okay.…So we have a lot of Latin glyphs here that we don't…need and I'm working with the…chunky_mobile file from the 04_05 directory.…We don't need these glyphs, we're not going to be using them…and so they're taking up space in our font that we don't need.…
