Get a first-hand look at the new Android Wear platform and the Samsung Gear Live smartwatch.
- [Voiceover] Hi, I'm Nick Brazzi. Welcome to Up and Running with Android Wear. Android Wear is Google's new platform for Smartwatches that pair with Android phones and tablets. We'll start by taking a look at how to make sure that your Android phone or tablet is compatible with Android Wear watches. Then, we'll take a look at the best process for getting your phone ready to link to an Android watch and step through the pairing process. We'll spend some time getting familiar with the user interface on the watch so you know how to navigate through apps and notifications.
Next, I'll go through some of the most common built-in functions of the Android Wear platform, like sending and receiving text messages and getting turn by turn driving directions. We'll finish up by taking a look at how third party apps can interact with Android Wear watches, sending important information and notifications straight from an app to the watch. In these movies, the watch that you'll see is the Samsung Gear Live, but I'm really focusing on the general functionality. Aside from the step counter and heart rate monitor, all of the features that you see here should work the same across all Android Wear watches.
So let's get started with Up and Running with Android Wear.
