Join Garrick Chow for an in-depth discussion in this video Using the exercise files, part of Learning Songwriting: GarageBand.
If you're a premium subscriber to Lynda.com, you have access to the exercise files that accompany our courses. However, throughout the majority of this course, I'll be recording live into GarageBand, building a song step by step. So you'll benefit more by watching what I'm doing, and then employing the techniques I show you to your own songs. Rather than trying to learn the song I am using here as an example yourself. But there is one exercise file provided that can be used along with the video near the end of the course on creating a rough mix of the song, which includes all the tracks that are created leading up to that point.
So, if you haven't yet created your own song, and you have access to the exercise files. You can play around with this project and experiment as much as you like. Just download the zipped exercise files from this course's page at lynda.com, and double-click the zipped file to uncompress it. You'll get this exercise files folder and inside it, you'll find the GarageBand project file. Just double-click the file to open it in GarageBand. But again whether you have access to the exercise files or not, I encourage you to take what I show you here and apply it to your own songs in GarageBand.
