- [Voiceover] Another piece of must have gear for your podcast is a good set of headphones. Even if you're the only voice that's going to be appearing in your show, and you feel like you can hear yourself talking just fine, you should still get some headphones. They're important for the recording process and extremely important for the editing process. Your headphones let you monitor how your recording is sounding as you record it, so you can quickly catch any levels that might be too quiet or might be distorting. You'll also be able to hear any unfortunate mouth noises like lip smacking and whether any sounds from further south are making it into your recording. I can't tell you how many times I've had to stop recording because of my stomach telling me it was time for lunch. So if you don't already have a set, you should invest in some quality headphones.
