- The most timeless tool,…I know this is going to sound like a cop-out,…the most timeless tool is easily my brain.…The, you know, interestingly enough,…the process of game design hasn't changed,…for me, at all, since the Apple II.…And so, these questions,…"What is the one thing this game is about?"…Not the two things, it's got to be one thing.…"What is the one thing this game is about?"…And everything you add to the game,…is either going to make it stronger,…it's going to make it weaker,…or it's going to have no effect.…
The no effect one is dangerous.…So, first of all, if it makes it stronger, keep it.…Add it, if you've got the time, and the budget.…If it makes it weaker when you add it,…goodbye, it's got to be gone.…Now, the ones that have no effect,…the "it would be cool if", like…"Oh well let's just add it, yeah…"it doesn't make it stronger but let's add it."…Really, because that's code time,…and that code time could be used…to add something that would make it stronger.…So this needs to go as well.…And it's that same process of finding…
