Watermark an image
- [Instructor] Watermarking can prevent people from using images without permission. To watermark an image in GIMP, put the watermark content on its own layer and fill it with white. Then choose Filters, Light and Shadow, Drop Shadow. Set X and Y values to zero. And increase the shadow's opacity. Then reduce the layer's opacity to blend it with the image content. To copy the watermark to other images, drag its layer thumbnail onto the tab of another open file and release over the canvas. The new layer will be centered on the canvas, so if you want it somewhere else, take the Move tool and reposition it. Export a flattened copy of the image in an appropriate file format like JPEG. And remember to keep an unflattened copy of the image so the watermark can be turned off as needed.
