- [Instructor] Let's see how to adjust the contrast in an image using curves. To open the curves dialogue, I'll choose colors, curves, and if you watched the movie on levels, some of this might seem familiar. By default, we're working with values in an image, or luminosity, but you can also choose specific color channels to work on with this menu, and we have a histogram of the values in the image from the lightest ones on the right to the darkest ones on the left, but now, instead of working on a one-dimensional slider, we have a line on a two-dimensional graph that we can adjust to change the image, and we have two gradients on the horizontal and vertical axes of the graph. The horizontal gradient represents the values of the pixels as they are in the image right now. The vertical gradient represents the new values that you're applying.
